Managing Notifications as an Administrator

Notifications are role-based.  To view all current users and their assigned roles/positions, click the Users tab in the left menu and select Manage.

Open the Department tab in the left menu and select Notifications.  Roles are listed in the left column.  Each role has its own row containing the Email and Mobile Push Notifications associated with it.  

Each notification trigger can be toggled on and off with a click. All changes to the trigger settings are automatically saved and applied to users assigned to that role. 

When an Email Notification trigger is enabled, all users assigned that role will receive an email when that event occurs.  In the example below, a person assigned the role of Chief will receive an email every time an apparatus check becomes overdue.  

When a Mobile Push Notification trigger is enabled, all users assigned that role will receive an automated message on their phone or mobile device through the Halligan app when that event occurs.  In the example below, all roles will receive a push notification when a Department Update is issued.  

When a new role is created, all email and push notifications are turned on by default.  When initially setting up your department, disable all notifications until you are ready to bring your system live.  This will prevent overwhelming members with emails and mobile push notifications during the set-up process.  

Managing notifications as an individual

Click Settings in the top navigational toolbar and select Account.

Adjust the notifications settings based on personal preference and need.  Click Save for the changes to take effect. 

Notification changes made by an individual user will not affect the general notification settings for rest of the users assigned to their role.   

NOTE: An administrator cannot override the choices made by an individual.  If a user is not receiving communications, suggest that they check their personal Account Settings and review their notification selections.
