SCBA Equipment Check Step
This method is simple to set up, easy to maintain and is the route most often used by our users. The method allows you to treat each SCBA as a single Equipment Check Step so you can pass or fail an SCBA with the push of a button.
To set up the SCBA Equipment Check Step method, simply add an SCBA Equipment Pool and add an SCBA Equipment item to the pool for each of your SCBAs.
Alternatively, some departments choose to separate the SCBA Backframe from the SCBA Bottles. This very similar implementation requires you to add both the SCBA Bottles and Backplates to the checklist. The main advantage of this method is that you can select the bottle ID at the time of the check. Since bottles tend to rotate from truck to truck while backframes tend to remain static, this method matches reality most accurately.
Additionally, if you want to outline a standard procedure to be followed when one is checking an SCBA, you can use the equipment item 'Possible Remediation Actions' field to outline the necessary steps.
If you want to set up Work Order Tickets associated with these equipment items, simply attach an SCBA or other custom Ticket Type to the Equipment Check Step.
While the setup for this method is easy, there is a downside. If you require detailed reporting on which specific aspect of the SCBA failed, your only option to record that information is the description field of the Check Step.
As a result, there is no easy way to track which component failed over time in the reporting section.
However, for those that want detailed reporting on each component of an apparatus, Halligan has the solution.
This method allows for a highly granular look at the history of your SCBAs in your check history.
To set up this hyper-granular approach to SCBA checks, you will need to create a new checklist for each of your apparatus (or more simply, create one checklist and copy it to your other apparatus). This new checklist will have only one category and as many check steps as SCBA components you want to keep track of.
Submit this check for each SCBA on the apparatus. Note that the check results in this implementation will be counted as apparatus checks.
If you would like the checks to be tracked as separate from an apparatus, there is a similar alternative. Create a new apparatus call "Station" or something similar. Then make the SCBA checklist under the Station.
